| October 25, 1999 Nevada Film Office Deputy Director Continues Key Role with AFCI Carson City, NV. -- Robin Holabird, Director of the Nevada Film Office, was re-elected to the Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI) Board of Directors earlier this month. The AFCI includes more than 300 member organizations and promotes location filming worldwide. The group has also been active developing policies for filming on federal lands and exploring incentive programs that bring production companies to many regions. "Nevada has a responsibility to its citizens to increase economic development, particularly in filmmaking, television production, and other multimedia areas," states Lieutenant Governor Lorraine Hunt, Chair of the Nevada Commission on Economic Development that oversees the Nevada Film Office. "The AFCI is an excellent organization to assist film commissions nationwide and around the world, and we're pleased to have Robin Holabrid a part of the board." During the annual AFCI Cineposium event held earlier this year in London, Holabird was the moderator for a panel of British film industry leaders including the producer of Shakespeare in Love. "This position provides more opportunitites for one-on-one dealings with filmmakers," notes Holabird. "The Nevada Film Office continually strives to proactively pursue films, rather than passively wait for them to come to our state. This is an excellent compliment to our goals." Holabird, who began location scouting for the Nevada Film Office in 1986, has worked closely with projects such as Misery, Sister Act and the upcoming feature Diamonds starring Kirk Douglas. She has been busy recently on the film Squelsh with LeeLee Sobieski, currently shooting along the I-80 corridor.
